Girls Swimming & Diving: Germantown Academy Rolls Past Agnes Irwin to Open New Year

FORT WASHINGTON — Germantown Academy’s Girls Swimming and Diving team opened the new year with a 102–75 win over Inter-Ac League foe Agnes Irwin on Tuesday, earning 11 event victories, including exhibitions, to cap a strong start to the second half of the season.

GA opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A team finished in 1:53.41 and the B team placed second in 1:56.27.

In the 200 Freestyle, Vita Capriotti ’29 led the way with a winning time of 1:59.18. Sofia Bell ’26 finished third in 2:07.05, and Izzy Munski ’27 placed fourth in 2:12.05.

The Patriots also claimed the 200 Individual Medley, with Anabelle Perez-Mercedes ’29 touching first in 2:14.61. Elsa Simonetti ’26 (2:25.27) and Anna Springer ’27 (2:33.72) finished third and fifth, respectively.

Nieve Keitel ’27 swept the sprint events, winning the 50 Freestyle in 24.77 and the 100 Freestyle in 55.31. In the 100 Butterfly, Ainsley Buerger ’28 finished second in 1:02.72, while Mira Hayes ’26 placed third in 1:02.91.

GA dominated 1-meter diving, sweeping the top three spots. Maddie Evers ’26 won with 266.17 points, followed by Ana Navarro ’28 (262.05) and Elizabeth Kenesky ’29 (235.12).

In the 500 Freestyle, Camryn Jones ’26 won in 5:15.48. Bell finished third in 5:30.94, and Reese Dowling ’28 placed fourth in 6:05.87. The Patriots went on to win the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:41.35, with the B team placing third in 1:52.59.

Emerson Choudry ’27 added a win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:03.23. Munski finished third in 1:06.67, and Charlotte Brazer ’26 placed fourth in 1:13.54.

Germantown Academy returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 13 when they travel to Episcopal Academy for a duel meet.
