FORT WASHINGTON – Germantown Academy improved to 8-6-1 overall with a 2-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy Academy on Wednesday evening.

Piper Loney '27 and Jess Kolecki '25 each scored, while goalkeeper Gabby Bowes '25 and the GA defense held a Griffin offense that had outscored its previous two opponents 11-2.

The Patriots struck in the 17th minute when Loney received a through ball on the right side, beat a defender, and sent a shot to the far post that tucked into the side netting. Gwynedd Mercy leveled the game in the 26th minute.

Kolecki headed in a cross with 9:12 remaining, which proved to be the game-winner.

GA now turns its attention to Friday, when the Patriots travel to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy for an Inter-Ac matchup at 4pm.
