Girls Soccer: GA Splits Points with PC

By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

FORT WASHINGTON -- The last time Germantown Academy's girls soccer team battled Penn Charter, the teams combined for 11 goals with PC getting a win. The GA-PC bout was almost the complete opposite.

Penn Charter took the lead with 19 minutes to go before the half. That score would hold for the rest of the first half.

After the break, GA fought back. Just nine minutes into the second half, Riley Axenroth '19 found the back of the net off of a corner kick. Both teams had chances to break the tie in regulation, but were unable to convert.

Looking for a winner, the teams went to overtime. However, after two five-minute halves, the score remained tied and the teams split the point for the day.

Axenroth and Emma Maley '19 (PC) were the co-MVPs of the game. Bob Marquess '73 (PC), Marley Sternberg '14 (GA) and Maddie Stambaugh '13 (GA) were the judges for the game.

GA ends the season 13-6-1 overall, while going 7-4-1 in Inter-Ac League play.
