PHILADELPHIA -- Apparently, Germantown Academy's girls lacrosse team did not get enough of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy despite facing off twice during the regular season. The Patriots split the season series with the Blue Devils, but had a chance to break the tie on May 17 in the second round of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Tournament.
SCH was able to hang with GA for the majority of the first half, but after that it was all Patriots. Germantown Academy outscored the Blue Devils, 8-3, in the second half and won the contest, 15-9.
Olivia Doody '19 led the charge for the Patriots, netting six scores and tallying three assists. The senior also picked up three ground balls and three draw controls. Mackenzie Smith '21 put away five goals, while Elise Smigiel '21 had two and Maddie Burns '20 and Elizabeth Van Blarcom '20 added one apiece. Burns also had three assists and five draw controls while Van Blarcom had one ground ball, one draw control and one interception.
The Patriots will be playing in the semi-final game on the PAISAA Tournament on May 21.
