PHILADELPHIA -- Germantown Academy's girls lacrosse team came out on top against fourth-seeded Springside Chestnut Hill Academy to advance to the Semi-Final Round of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association.
GA dominated the first half and led the Blue Devils 5-1 at the intermission. However SCH came storming back with six goals in the third quarter and held a one score advantage going into the final frame. The Patriots once again pulled ahead, scoring five goals to the Blue Devils' two and taking the contest 12-10.
Lucia Smigiel '24 crossed the 100-goal plateau with five scores. The UConn commit added an assist and a groundball to her stat line. Cate Luviano '24 led the team with eight draw controls and nine ground balls to go along with four goals. Maggie Borek '24 scored twice and Gigi Ippoldo '24 found the back of the net once to round out the Patriots' scoring.
GA will take one the winner of top-seeded Episcopal Academy and eighth-seeded Germantown Friends on Tuesday, May 21.
