NEWTOWN SQUARE -- Germantown Academy's girls cross country team took to Episcopal Academy to open the 2023 season on Sept. 12. Running against Academy of Notre Dame, Agnes Irwin School, and the host Churchwomen, the Patriots turned in some top times to earn two wins and place second overall. 

On the day, the Patriots topped Episcopal Academy, 23-33, and Agnes Irwin, 21-35. They were narrowly edged by Notre Dame, 27-29. 

Nieve Keitel '27 finished first overall with a time of 20:54, while Annabelle Steckel '28 (22:53) and Abby Durkin '24 (23:14) turned in top-10 times finishing sixth and seventh, respectively. Sanya Bandekar '25, Maggie Morrissey '24, and Lauren Perry '24 rounded out the top-20 finisher for GA. 

The Patriots return to action on Sept. 19 for an Inter-Ac League race at Belmont Plateau. After that, they will participate in the George School Invitational on Sept. 23 before hosting Penn Charter on Sept. 26.
