Girls Basketball: Patriots Use Big Second Quarter to Cruise Past Pennington

FORT WASHINGTON — Jo Owens '27 scored 10 of her 13 points in the first half and Claire McKee '27 added 12 as Germantown Academy rolled past The Pennington School, 75-45, on Tuesday afternoon in its home opener.

Sam Kollock '29 chipped in six points and three assists off the bench for GA (2-0).

The Patriots started slowly, missing all six free throws in the first quarter and trailing 16-14 after one despite putting together a 9-0 run midway through the period. GA settled in during the second quarter, outscoring the Red Hawks 19-6 to take a 33-22 lead into halftime. Owens scored eight of GA’s final 11 points of the half.

GA continued to control the game in the second half, stretching the lead to 55-34 after three quarters with strong defensive pressure and energy in transition. The bench made a significant impact, combining for 25 points as 12 Patriots found the scoresheet.

Germantown Academy is back on the road Thursday, Dec. 4, at Friends’ Central School. Tipoff is set for 4 pm.
