GIRLS BASKETBALL: GA Gets Mixed Results During Busy Week

FORT WASHINGTON – Germantown Academy’s girls basketball team wrapped up its third game in four days on Wednesday evening when they won against Baldwin School, 62-25. The result brings the Patriots to a 2-1record for the week.

GA opened the week with a 53-35 win over Imhotep Institute Charter High in the Blue Star Invitational at Riverwinds Community Center on Jan. 9. The Patriots raced to a 31-15 halftime lead and coasted to the nonconference win. Isabella Casey ’24 led the charge with 20 points and six rebounds.

The Patriots fought hard against Inter-Ac League foe Academy of Notre Dame de Namur on Jan. 11, but were unable to pull out a victory, falling 45-41. GA got off to a solid start and led 16-13 after one quarter. However, they recorded just 11 points over the second and third quarters. Trailing by 10 going into the final frame, the Patriots were able to cut the lead to as little as four, but could not get over the hump. Casey and Same Wade ’24 each tallied 14 points in the contest.

In their latest game -- a clash against Baldwin in league action -- Germantown Academy got back on track, winning 62-25. The Patriots led 16-10 before using an 18-3 scoring run to take control in the second quarter. Jessica Aponik ’24 registered 15 points while Wade added 12.

The Patriots are now 6-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. The team will stay busy as they will travel to Villa Maria Academy High School on Jan. 14 for a 5:15 p.m. contest.
