Last March, Germantown Academy held a contest to create a new Patriot logo. The creative energy around the contest was palpable, and we received more than 150 entries from all parts of our community. I would like to thank the committee that helped me review all of the submissions: Ginny Hofmann, Sara Krupnick-Ritz, Krisi Taft, Tom McGlinchey, and Rich Schellhas.

As you can imagine, it was difficult choosing just one entry. The committee identified several finalist submissions that we felt deserved a special shout-out for their entries - Fiona Tran '19, Celina B. '24, AJ D. '24, Jianna K. '25, Thomas B. '26, and Rachel Fleckman P'24, P'21.

Our winning entry was submitted by Michael Spillane. Michael is a graphic designer based out of Bucks County. Michael is a friend of GA - he was the best man in fifth-grade teacher and GA alumnus Kurt Wetzel's wedding.

"I am grateful and flattered that you selected my design to represent your school's sports teams," said Spillane. "I hope it brings good luck to the Patriots!"

Using Michael's submission as a basis, we modified his design over the course of several months to incorporate timeless elements into it that reflect GA's history. Those elements include our founding year of 1759, our school colors, and of course, the famous tri-corner hat, which is one of the most identifiable characteristics of a Patriot. It was our desire to create a timeless logo that Patriots will feel proud to wear for many years to come. During the process, presentations of different iterations of the logo were held with student-athletes, senior administrators, the Alumni Society Board and the Parents' Executive Committee. The final logo and mark are below.

It is my pleasure to share these marks with the GA community today. The logo and wordmarks will be rolled out this week on team spirit wear stores for winter sports, and limited edition t-shirts are currently available in the School Store. Merchandise with these new marks will be added to our Fan Store in the next few days.
