Germantown Academy Names Diane Neubauer Girls Cross Country Coach

Fort Washington, PA – Germantown Academy Director of Athletics Tim Ginter has announced the hiring of Diane Neubauer as the new Head Coach of Girls Cross Country.

"Over the last 30 years the Germantown Academy Girls Cross Country Team has been synonymous with grit, perseverance, and success," Ginter said. "With the hiring of Coach Diane Neubauer, we believe we have found the right person to continue this tradition. Throughout the interview process, Diane impressed both the administration and the student-athletes with her passion for the sport, and her vision for the future. We believe her enthusiasm, her coaching experience, and her passion for the sport will inspire our runners as well as grow the program."

Neubauer got her start as an Assistant Coach at what was then Cabrini College, helping with responsibilities for the both the mens and womens teams. Most recently, she was the Head Coach for the boys and girls teams at Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, Idaho, where she helped coach three athletes to medals at the State Meet. Neubauer also brings tons of informal experience as well in the form of volunteer service. She was the leader of a military mothers running group and was a site liaison and coach for Girls on the Run, an after-school program designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength with lessons that emphasize the important connection between physical and emotional health.

A four-time Boston Marathon qualifier and first place finisher in her age group at the 2022 Chicago Marathon, Neubauer has been involved with the sport for almost two decades as an athlete and a coach. She also holds a Road Runners of America Coaching Level 1 Certification and is an Elite runner for the McKirdy Trained High Performance team.

"I’m so excited to be able to share my passion of running and women in sport here at Germantown Academy as the Girls' Cross Country Coach," Neubauer said. "This sport has given me so much in my own life and it is a great privilege to be able to lead the future of women’s running."

As a student-athlete at Cabrini, she was a three-time captain and was named to the All-Colonial States Athletic Conference 1st Team in 2009 after a 3rd place finish at the CSAC Championship meet. Neubauer was also named CSAC Runner of the Week four times during her career and was once named to the CSAC Runners Honor Roll. She graduated in 2011 Magna Cum Laude from Cabrini with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

GA’s new coach will inherit a team that went 3-4 overall and 3-3 in Inter-Ac League competitions in 2021 and will return 12 student-athletes, including All-League performer Kayla D'Eletto '23.
