FORT WASHINGTON -- On the first third down of the game, Jordan Longino '21 had his pass deflected and intercepted by a Frankford defender. The Pioneers quickly turned the giveaway into seven points with a 34-yard rushing touchdown. However, it was all GA after that, as the Patriots cruised to a 35-10 win.
"That was a good, well-coached team," Head Coach Matt Dence said. "I thought we stayed in it for four quarters."
On their next drive, the Patriots rode Trae Vance '20 down the field. The junior compiled 28 yards on the ground during the series and capped it off with a three-yard touchdown run.
GA's defense bounced back from the first drive, racking up two sacks -- one from Michael McDonough '19, one from Hans Lillis '20 -- and a blocked punt. The Patriots converted that into a nine-yard touchdown from Longino to Jerry Griffen-Batchler '21.
Following his catch on offense, Griffen-Batchler picked off Frankford the very next series. He finished the day with two interceptions to go along with 29 receiving yards and a touchdown.
"We have an unbelievable defensive line," Dence said. "We have a good secondary and good linebackers too. When they play in sync, it's a good thing."
Longino would sneak in from one yard out to bring the score to 21-7. The half ended with the same score.
In the third, GA's all-around play continued to shine. Longino would find paydirt on the ground again before hitting Tayshaun Mack '20 for a 15-yard score, and the defense produced another blocked punt and two more interceptions. The Patriots were able to kneel the ball and run out the clock.
"We played all three phases and played them well," Dence said. "We blocked two punts and pinned them on the one yard line on a punt. We got some two's some good reps because we're going to need them. We did a lot of really good things."
GA will travel to Father Judge High School for their next game. That will take place on Sept. 14 at 6:00 p.m.
