Crew: Three Groups Earn Medals at Cooper Cup

CAMDEN -- Germantown Academy's crew team travelled to Camden, New Jersey to take part in the Cooper Cup on April 29. Each boat finished in fifth place or better, with three earning medals.

Finishing first in the womens JV 4x flight was the boat consisting of Maylin Lindsey '20, Margarey Horvat '19, Elizabeth Berlinger '19 and Addy Campbell '19.  Dylan Robertson '19 and Charlie Shafer '19 took first in the mens JV 2x flight. Both teams earned gold medals for their finishes. 

In the womens varsity 2x, Liz Wescott '18 and Julia McKernan '18 finished first in their heat and third in the final, earning a bronze medal. 

Andreas Moeller '21 and Alex Walkush '21 took second in the mens JV 2x flight, while Diego Carrasco '19, Anthony Kostacos '21, Jamie Werther '19 and Ian Cummings '19 finished second in the mens novice 4x flight.

The womens novice group finished third in their flight and Max Fralic '18 and Max Donches '19 took third in their heat. Carmen Sinker '20 and Daniel Krausz '20 finished fourth in the mens lightweight 2x heat, while Lauren Paynton '20, Lily Connor '20, Aman Gill '19 and Naomi Friedman '19 took fourth in the womens JV 4x flight.

Derek Walkush '19, Isaac Wilkins '18, Shafer, Robertson and Pedro Sobral '19 took fifth in their heat of the mens varsity 4+. Brynne DiDonato '19 took fifth in the womens JV 1x flight, while Lily Richards '19 and Ava Hook '19 took fifth in the womens JV 2x flight.

Germantown Academy's next race will be at the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association Championships on May 5 and 6.
