Crew: Patriots Turn in Top Results at Fifth Flick

PHILADELPHIA -- Germantown Academy's crew team competed at the Fifth Manny Flick/Horvat Series on April 14 and had outstanding results. Those that competed turned in top finishes in the final Flick.

Derek Walkush '19 finished first in his flight of the Boys Varsity 1x division. The senior's time of 5:15.640 was third best overall. Andreas Moeller '21 and Alex Walkush '21 continued their hot streak by taking first out of 18 teams in a Boys JV 2x time trial. The duo finished almost nine seconds better than the next competitor.

Rounding out the first-place finishes for GA was Charlie Shafer '19 and Dylan Robertson '19. The two rowers finished atop their flight of the Boys Varsity 2x division with a time of 4:51.810. 

Jamie Werther '19 and Pedro Sobral '19 took second in their respective flight of the Boys Lightweight 2x. The seniors finished almost 17 seconds faster than the next duo in their flight.

Michael Jackaman '22 and Brendan Page '22 took third out of 15 in the Boys Novice 2x time trial. Brynne DiDonato '19, Margaret Horvat '19, Ava Hook '19, Addison Campbell '19 and Madison Seidman '19 finished third in their flight of the Girls Varsity 4+. 

Diego Carrasco '19 and Ian Cummings '19, Elizabeth Berlinger '19 and Maylin Lindsey '20, Lily Richards '19, Sydney Hill '21 and Lauren Paynton '20 all placed fifth in their respective flights. 

In their flight of the Girls JV 4x, J Fassler '20, Taj Williams '21, Priya Anand '21 and Rachel Roth '21 took sixth. Blythe Berlinger '22, Paige Whitman '22, Rebecca Zaki '22, Grace Good '22, Lucy Harobin '22, Saanvi Bhatia '22, Jenna Nolan '22, Christine Meng '22 and Annabel Hellman '22 took ninth out of 15 in the time trial for the Girls Novice 8+. 

Up next on the schedule for Germantown Academy is the Cooper Cup Regatta on April 28. That will be held at the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
