Crew: Germantown Academy Places Four in Stotesbury Regatta Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA -- More than 4,200 athletes and nearly 200 schools part occupied the banks of the Schuylkill River on May 19 and 20 looking to receive a trophy in one of the largest high school rowing events in the world, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. Germantown Academy had eight boats competing at Stotes, with four of them advancing to the semifinal round.

The Boys Jr. Quad of Utsav Mittal '25, Jack Wescott '25, Maloy Lafferty '25 and Umang Mittal '25 went 5:19.040 to finish 12th in their group and qualify for semifinals. In their next race, the quad finished in 5:06.800, but missed the cutoff for finals. 

Max Rinnander '25 and Max Goldman '23 qualified for the semifinal in the Boys Senior Double with a time of 5:53.500, but missed the cut for the finals. The same fate struck the  Girls Senior Quad of Livy Shafer '23, Sarah Beth Sandifer '23, Ryleigh Dougherty '23 and Aisosa Idahosa '23 who took ninth in 5:58.750 to advance to semifinals, but did not go further. Haiden Bonczek '23 also advanced to semifinals from the Boys Senior Single, but did not advance to finals. 

GA was also represented on the water by Charlotte Baughman '25 and Amelia Van Dale '24, AJ DiFranco '24 and Brian Moorhouse '26, Gertie Lafferty '24,Lucy McFadden '24 Saloni Bhatia '24 and R. Reddy '25, and Elizabeth Burke '23 Ali Ruane '23, Lizzie DiSandro '23, Phoebe Caffey '23, and Lucy Fassler '24.
