Crew: Eight Boats Compete at Stotesbury Cup Regatta

PHILADELPHIA -- Germantown Academy's crew team competed in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta over the weekend. Stotes is the nation's largest high school rowing competition, with the 2024 competition being the 97th in its history. GA had eight boats competing on the first day of time trials, with three advancing to a semifinal or final.

The Girls Junior Double of Charlotte Baughman '25 and Roma Reddy '25 started the day by advancing to a semi-final race. They group finished sixth in that semi-final in 6:44.440. The Girls Freshman Quad of Emma Podulka '27, Maya Salerno '27, Alex Brown '27, and Sophia Song '27 finished sixth in the race for the Past President's Cup of Conestoga HS Crew in 5:54.800. The group advanced to the final after rowing the third-best time in their semi-final race. 

Andrew Wells '25, Maloy Lafferty '25, Jack Wescott '25, and Utsav Mittal '25 advanced to the semi-final race for the Boys Junior Quad, finishing 12th in the initial race in 4:59.600. The group finished fourth in their semi-final in 5:08.930.

The Girls Junior Quad of Nina Sager '26, Mirabelle Hayes '26, Sophia DeCardona '25, and Clara Shafer '26 finished their race in 5:51.920. The Girls Senior Four of Lucy McFadden '24, Amelia Van Dale '24, Sam Rofsky '24, Gertie Lafferty '24, and coxswain Lucy Fassler '24 went 6:13.160 in their race.

The Boys Junior Four of Ben Moyer '26, Matthew Holleman '27, Gavin Young' 27, Jayden Johnson '26, and coxswain Arjun Samra '27 finished their race in 5:47.550. AJ DiFranco '24 and Benjamin Moorhouse '26 finished the Boys Lightweight Double in 5:41.730. Max Rinnander '25 finished the Boys Senior Single in 6:04.840.
