FORT WASHINGTON -- Earlier this week, the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association released their list of student-athletes that earned All-American recognition. Among the 93 names was Germantown Academy's own Finn Lillis '18.
Lillis received All-American Honorable Mention honors for the 2017-18 season. In doing so, he becomes just the sixth boys water polo player in GA history to earn All-American recognition and is the first since Carl Dowzicky '12 in the 2011-12 season.
The honor is well-deserved for Lillis. The recent graduate helped the Patriots to a 17-8-1 overall record and a third-place finish at Easterns in 2017. The finish at Easterns was Germantown Academy's highest since winning the ‘A’ flight in 2004. While helping the team, Lillis also broke a few school records.
Entering his final game -- the annual GA-PC Day contest -- Lillis needed nine goals to tie Dowziky's career goals mark. In the 19-3 victory, he tallied 10 scores, giving him the record with 301 career goals. Lillis also holds the record for goals on GA-PC day with 17.
He will continue his academic and athletic careers at George Washington University.
