Boys Water Polo: Depth on Display in Win at Lawrenceville

By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Germantown Academy's boys water polo team used a strong second quarter to power themselves over non-league foe Lawrenceville School on Oct. 17. Despite the contest being the third straight on the road for the Patriots, they showed no signs of fatigue and won, 19-13.

It was another well-balanced affair for GA, as seven different players found the back of the net. After a fairly close first quarter, a big second quarter rally saw the Patriots enter the half up 10-3.

Over the course of the game, GA was able to work in a lot of players. As the Big Red keyed in on the primary threats, the rest of the team showed that they too are perfectly capable of making plays.

Three Patriots saw career highs in varsity goals as Noah Spratt '20 tallied six, Sean Keenan '19 logged three and Aidan Walsh '22 struck twice for his first career multi-goal varsity game.

"This week has provided great opportunities for us to work some guys in and they have really risen to the occasion," Head Coach Mike Koziol said in an email. "They are really starting to put things together. We hope to see them continue to grow and get better as our championship season approaches. Some of them could be really special in big spots."

The Patriots have passed the halfway point of their six-game road trip. Their next test comes on Oct. 19 as they travel to Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy for a 4:00 p.m. start. GA is 1-0 against the Churchmen this year, having won 11-4 on Oct. 2.
