NEWTOWN SQUARE -- Head Coach Peter Jennings said that the coaches always score the meets ahead of time to see how how final rankings should play out. He said that after this was done for the Inter-Ac League Championships, the result was a third-place finish. It is a good thing that the events are not done on paper.

The Patriots came away with the league title on May 12 in dominant fashion, scoring 127 points. The next closest opponent was Malvern Prep with 109.5 points.

"I feel like things really came together in the last couple of weeks," Jennings said. "Standing in the team circle, I was just making eye contact with so many people who contributed to this. It's a big celebration for everybody."

• Kyle Garland '18 led the way for the Patriots, taking first place in four different events. The senior took home MVP honors in addition to gold medals in the 110 hurdles (13.85), 300 hurdles (38.34), long jump (23' 6.25") and the high jump (6' 4"). He fell one inch short of setting the league record in the long jump, but did set the record in the 110 hurdles.
• Olatide Abinusawa '19 dominated the field events, particularly the throws. Although they were not scored, the junior placed first in the javelin and the discus. He also finished second in the shot put and fifth in the triple jump. His throw of 130' 4" in the discus shattered the previous league record of 87' 10".
• The record-breaking trend continued with Caleb Johnson '19. Johnson set a new PR and league mark with a 15' 10" in the pole vault. 
• Michael Capone '18 ran in the 200 and 100, taking second and third respectively. Capone edged out his competition in the 200 by .02 seconds. 
• Jennings spoke highly of Kevin Lamb '19 following the meet, and for good reason. Lamb took second in the long jump (22' 3.75") and 300 hurdles (40.91). His score in the long jump qualified him as an Emerging Elite for Nationals. Lamb also took fourth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.02.
• GA's relays also found success on the day. The 4x100 and 4x800 both finished in second, something that Jennings said he did not expect. The 4x400 team finished in fifth.

The Patriots will be celebrating the win, but ultimately will be back to work soon. They will be competing in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships on May 19.
