Boys Track & Field: GA Competes at Jack Armstrong Invitational

ABINGTON -- The weather was overcast, but the performances from Germantown Academy's boys track team shined bright on April 17 at the Jack Armstrong Invitational. GA compiled six top-six finishes on the day. The meet had no team scoring.

The Patriots dominated field events thanks to Ola Abinusawa '19. He took first place in both the shot put and the discus with throws of 54' 10" and 148' 4". His mark is the shot put was more than 11 feet greater than the second-place mark, and he threw the discus 15 feet farther than the next best finisher. 

Robert DiDonato '21 put together a first-place finish on the track in the 1600. DiDonato ran the race in 4:23.90, just a few seconds off of the meet record. Finishing behind him in second place was Matt Sandifer '20 with a time of 4:30.01. Alex Badami '22 took seventh in the event with a time of 4:40.97.

GA had three athletes finish in the top seven of the long jump in Kevin Lamb '19, Daelyn Nwaobasi '21 and Christian Combs '22. Lamb placed second with a 20' 2.25" leap, while Nwaobasi jumped 19' 1" for fifth place. Combs came in seventh with a 17' 9.50" jump. 

The Patriots host Episcopal Academy on April 23 for a dual meet. That will be held at Carey Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m.
