Boys Swimming & Diving: Patriots Dominate on the Road, Top Episcopal 116–69 Behind Nine Event Wins

NEWTOWN SQUARE — Germantown Academy’s boys swimming and diving team had another strong performance on the road on Tuesday, taking on Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy. The Patriots touched first in nine events and defeated the Churchmen, 116–69.

GA opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, finishing in 1:36.89, while the B team placed fourth in 1:47.37.

Oliver Ritchey '27 and Heston Steckel '26 went 1-2 in the 200 Freestyle, with Ritchey going 1:44.79 and Steckel touching in 1:49.05. Luke Leoni '29 (1:53.23) finished fourth. The Patriots swept the 200 IM, led by Shane Cowley '28 in first (1:56.32), followed by Nick Lohin '27 in second (2:03.94), and Marcus Rasmussen '27 in third (2:04.41). GA claimed three of the top four spots in the 500 Freestyle, with Luke Samuel '28 in first (4:45.89), Nicholas Truong '28 in second (4:50.48), and Max Meng '29 in fourth (5:10.86). Truong also touched first in the 100 Backstroke, going 54.41.

In 1-meter diving, Nash Salomon '28 earned first with 282.45 points, while Charlie McGeehan '28 finished second with 182.18.

In the 100 Butterfly, Steckel touched first in 53.17. Henry Zyman '29 (56.40) placed third, and Evan Garrido '29 (57.24) finished fourth. Matthew Truong '26 won the 100 Breaststroke in 1:00.76, while Cowley touched second in 1:02.02.

GA closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with the A team going 3:21.23, and the B team taking third in 3:35.39.

Germantown Academy returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 when they travel to New Jersey to take on Peddie School for a non-league duel meet.
