Boys Swimming & Diving: GA Coasts Past Falcons, Stay Unbeaten

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ -- Germantown Academy's boys swimming and diving team took to New Jersey over the weekend for a break from Inter-Ac League competition. After going 2-0 against league foes William Penn Charter and Episcopal Academy, the Patriots traveled to The Peddie School to take on the Falcons. While the margin of victory was the slimmest that GA has had all season, they still emerged with a 102-66 result. 

Henry Morrissey '22 and Landon D'Ariano '23 each claimed a pair of first-place finishes. Morrissey touched first in the 200 Yard and 500 Yard Freestyle. He went 1:45.04 in the 200 and 4:35.60 in the 500. D'Ariano went 1:53.01 in the 200 Yard IM and 52.34 in the 100 Yard Butterfly.

Andy Zhou '24 finished second in the Butterfly in 52.55 while Stephen Calabro '23 took fourth (58.84) Zhou also took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.14. 

Jack Maketa '22 took first in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of  55:15. Brandon Fleck '25 finished second in 55.89. Fleck also recorded a third-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.54.

JJ Freeman '23 touched first in the 50 Yard Freestyle (22.40) and second in the 100 Yard Freestyle (47.06). Maketa took third in the 100 Free with a time of 47.20. 

The group of Maketa, D'Ariano, Zhou and Fleck swam 1:37.17 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, taking first in the process. D'Ariano, Freeman, Zhou and Morrissey touched first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in 1:31.52. Fleck, Freeman, Maketa and Morrissey comprised the first-place 400 Yard Freestyle Relay Team that went 3:11.19.
