FORT WASHINGTON – Breaking records is nothing new for Brandon Fleck ’25. The Indiana University commit already owned one pool record, and five school records ahead of the Patriots’ Jan. 7 Inter-Ac League dual meet against Penn Charter, but by the end of the night, he had bumped two more names off the record board. In addition to winning the 200 Medley Relay (1:40.64), 400 Freestyle Relay (3:21.41), and 200 Freestyle (1:39.00), Fleck swam 49.19 in the Boys 100 Backstroke, topping the pool and school records held by Landon D’Ariano ’24 (University of Texas) and Jack Maketa ’22 (Yale University).
Fleck’s performance highlighted a dominant performance by Germantown Academy, who swept eight events and won the meet, 111-55.
“I think we did amazing,” Fleck said. “Everyone’s feeling good right now, cheering everyone on from the side of the pool or the ends of the lanes. We’re doing a great job and want to keep that going. It means a lot to break those records and pass some swimmers that are competing in college and doing great things."
The Patriots are now 2-0 overall and in Inter-Ac League action. They return to the pool on Jan. 14 when they compete at Episcopal Academy.
