Boys Soccer: Quinlan Rink ’26 Nets Late Winner as Germantown Academy Defeats Conwell Egan in Season Opener

FORT WASHINGTON - Quinlan Rink '26 scored the gamewinner with under one minute left to play in the second half to lift Germantown Academy to a 1-0 win over visiting Conwell Egan Catholic in the first regular season competition of the year.

Rink broke through the Eagles' backline on a well-timed through ball from Ben Creighton '26, and found the side netting with his left foot with 46 seconds left in the contest.

"I may have gotten a little lucky," Rink said of his strike," But it went to the spot I was aiming for."

The teams battled through a scoreless first half with Conwell Egan having a goal called back due to offsides.

"I think we played well for the first game," Rink said. "Obviously there's stuff we can work on, but we generated a lot of chances, which I think gives us something to look forward to this season. We just want to win. Every game matters, but we really want to win our Inter-Ac games and win the league this year."

Patriots' keepers Rowen Harbert '26 and Hugo Simonetti '26 split the shutout.

GA returns to action on Friday, Aug. 29 when they travel to Father Judge High School for a 12pm match.
