Boys Basketball: Pennington Stops Patriots' Win Streak

By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

HIGHTSTOWN -- Germantown Academy entered it's game against The Pennington School having reeled off three straight wins and averaging 57 points per game during that span. Against the Red Raiders -- a team on a six-game streak -- the Patriots came up short, dropping the game 63-48.

In addition to suffering a loss on the court, GA lost their leading scorer, Jordan Longino '21, early in the first quarter to an injury. Before he exited the game, Longino had two points.

Despite the setback, the Patriots hung with Pennington in the first quarter. However, in the second the Red Raiders outscored GA 8-17, and took a 32-22 halftime lead. The Patriots again kept things close in the second half, but the second quarter's deficit proved to be too much to overcome.

In Longino's absence, Brian Basile '19 led the team with 13 points. The junior hit three shots from long range and made both of his free throws. Juan Adames '20 added nine points to the effort, while Lucas Traina '20 poured in eight.

The team will travel to play Malvern Prep on Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
