FORT WASHINGTON -- Not much separated Germantown Academy from Haverford School when the two Inter-Ac League teams clashed on Jan. 17. After maintaining a lead for a majority of the game, the Patriots found themselves trailing by one with under seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
After the Fords took a 42-39 lead, Tyler Nolan '25 drilled a three-pointer -- his second of the day -- to kickstart a 13-6 run that closed out the game. GA won the contest, 52-48.
The Patriots got out to an 8-2 lead in the first quarter and led 10-8 after the first frame. However, the Fords came back in the second, going on a 6-0 run to take a 14-10 lead. Despite several good looks at the hoop in the second quarter, GA was unable to score until Bryce Rollerson '25 got a layup to fall two minutes before halftime. The sophomore finished with a game-high 23 points. Following a three-pointer from Flinn Brooks '25, the Patriots went into the half with a 21-14 advantage.
Brooks kept up his hot shooting in the second half, drilling three more shots from deep in the third quarter alone. He ended the day with 15 points, all from behind the arc. After leading 39-35 to start the fourth, the GA saw the Fords take over before Nolan's three leveled the score. With 1:07 left to play, Rollerson took over, scoring 5 points and icing the game away.
Germantown Academy moves to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in Inter-Ac play. GA returns to action on Jan. 20 when they travel to Penn Charter for a 7pm tip-off.
