Boys Basketball: Patriots Plagued By Turnovers in Loss to West Catholic

By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

FORT WASHINGTON -- Prior to Dec. 16's matchup with West Catholic High School, Germantown Academy boys basketball Head Coach Jim Fenerty 1760 said that the Burrs were "extremely athletic" and that his team would have to play with poise. Unfortunately, the game did not shake out that way as the Patriots turned the ball over 28 times in the 62-54 loss.

In addition to the turnover troubles, GA was also hit with problems at the free throw line. While they made 30 trips to the charity stripe, the Patriots were only able to convert on those 17 times.

The Patriots held the advantage early, outscoring West Catholic in the first quarter, 10-5. The Burrs responded with a 17-point second quarter, but Germantown Academy still led at the half, 23-22.

In the third quarter, the game flipped as West Catholic outscored GA, 26-10. The Patriots fought back in the final frame -- scoring 21 points -- but were unable to overcome the lead built by West Catholic.

GA is now 3-4 on the season and will host Father Judge High School on Dec. 19 at 7:00 p.m.
