Boys Basketball: Patriots Earn First League Win, Fall to Frankford

FORT WASHINGTON -- Germantown Academy boys basketball opened Inter-Ac League play on Jan. 6 when they hosted Episcopal Academy for a 5:30 pm contest. Behind four double-digit scoring performances, the Patriots were able to top the Churchmen, 70-59.

GA got off to a good start, leading 15-9 after one quarter and 29-26 at the half. Things got even closer at the end of the third quarter, as the Patriots led by just two points. However, that is when Bryce Rollerson '25 took over.

The sophomore guard tallied 11 of his game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter, and helped GA outscore the Churchmen 28-18 in the final frame to secure a win. Flinn Brooks '25 poured in five three-pointers, while Ellis Johnson '25 and Bryce Presley '26 had 12 points and 10 points, respectively. Tyler Nolan '25 and Luke Topley '23 rounded out the scoring for GA, getting eight and two.

The very next day, GA was back in action against Frankford High School, but the result was not the same as the Patriots fell to the Pioneers, 62-50. Nolan led the Patriots with 17 points, including four three-pointers, while Rollerson had 12.

Germantown Academy is now 5-7 overall and 1-0 in league play. They return to the court on Jan. 10 when they travel to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy for a 4pm tip-off.
