Alumni Update: Elizabeth Berlinger '19, Dylan Robertson '19 Earn Medals at Championships

The spring sports season is winding down which means each competition means just a little bit more. Two Germantown Academy rowing alumni were able to perform when it mattered most to earn themselves some hardware.

Elizabeth Berlinger '19 took home a gold medal as a member of the Bucknell Varsity Eight that defeated second-place Boston University by more than seven seconds and third-place Navy by more than nine on the way to 2022 Patriot League Boat of the Year honors. The Bison improved their preliminary time of 7:17.817 by 28 seconds to 6:49.813 to win by open water out of lane six in the final.

It was the third-largest margin of victory in the Varsity Eight final in league history and the largest since Bucknell defeated Navy by just under 15 seconds back in 2008. It was the first Patriot League title for the Varsity Eight since 2012, and the first gold medal for any Bucknell boat since the Second Varsity Eight won in 2016.

Dylan Robertson '19 earned a silver medal at the 83rd Annual Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta as part of Stetson's Varsity 4+ crew that posted a time of 6:34.487 in the grand finale, finishing just 4.822 behind La Salle.

The Stetson crew reached the finale by posting a time of 6:36.008 in its head race on Friday, besting crews from Washington College, Fairfield, Drexel and Pittsburgh. The Hatters also won their Friday afternoon semifinal race, posting a time of 6:38.642, defeating boats from Bowdoin and three Philadelphia area crews – Temple, Drexel and Villanova.
