A pair of Germantown Academy alumni were competing at NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. over the weekend. Representing the University of Georgia was Kyle Garland '18, who was competing in the decathlon, while Abbe Goldstein '17 was running the 1500m for the University of New Mexico. Both athletes competed on the second day of the Championships.
Garland scored the second-highest point total of his career to earn bronze medal honors in the decathlon. He finished with personal records in the 100-meter dash, 400m and 1500m to score 8,333 points, marking his third top-three national finish of his career in the multi-events.
Goldstein ran in the first heat of the 1500m semifinal, earning ninth place with a time of 4:25.25 in the heat. Overall, she ended up in 21st to bring home Honorable Mention All-American honors.
