FORT WASHINGTON -- In his first year with Montreal Impact, former GA Patriot Daniel Lovitz '10 made his mark.

The MLS club announced in a press release that Lovitz was voted Impact Defensive Player of the Year by the team's technical staff.

Lovitz was acquired by the Impact on Feb. 28, and reached career highs in almost every category during the 2017 season.

In three seasons with Toronto FC, Lovitz tallied 1,387 minutes, 41 appearances and 13 starts. In one season with the Impact, he registered 1,750 minutes in 25 appearances with 19 starts. He also started two of three Canadian Championship games.

While at GA, Lovitz led the Patriots to two Inter-Ac League championships and was named all-conference as a senior.

He played collegiately at Elon, making 80 appearances, scoring nine goals and adding 16 assists. In 2013 Lovitz was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year after leading the Phoenix to a third straight conference tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance.
