Germantown Academy Falls to Penn Charter on 138th GA/PC Day

The first points of the 2024 GA/PC rivalry was won three days before the actual day's events as the GA golf team tied Penn Charter, 4-4, and each team entered the day with a half-point. On the 138th GA/PC Day, the Patriots were unable to win back the coveted Competition Cup, falling to PC, 8-2.

In the pool, the Patriots split matches, with the girls falling, 10-7, and the boys earning a high-scoring affair, 20-12. Captain and all-time leading scoring Andrew Thompson '25 was named MVP for the boys. The 20 goals scored by GA were the most on GA/PC Day since 2017, when the Patriots won 19-3.

Field hockey dropped a tight contest, 1-0, while girls tennis and girls soccer fell, 6-1 and 3-0, respectively. The GA cross country teams ran hard, but fell to PC 17-43 and 19-40. Sydney Wanner '25 was named MVP of the field hockey game.

Boys soccer played a full 90 minutes and prevented the Quakers from winning the Inter-Ac League Championship with a scoreless draw. Tri-captain JT Quinter '25 was named the GA MVP for the contest.

The latest edition of the longest continuous prep school football rivalry was won by PC, 30-24. Xavier Stearn '26 finished the day with 248 yards and three touchdowns through the air, while Jack Durkin tallied 100 total yards for the Patriots. Penn Charter went ahead with 25 seconds to play, and a last-second GA Hail Mary fell incomplete as time expired to clinch the result.
