FORT WASHINGTON -- For almost every winter sport, the regular season is long over and the postseason is winding down. With so few games remaining and the threat of elimination always present, each competition carries more importance. Germantown Academy had 10 student-athletes recognized by PhillyBurbs.com as Top Playoff Performers, with two in the running for Best Playoff Performer of the Week. 

Swimming

Libby Brewer '25 became the first female diver in GA history to win the Diving Championship at Easterns. The sophomore recorded 438.15 points on 11 dives and is up for Courier/Intell Girls Playoff Performer of the Week (Vote).

Landon D'Ariano '24 took first place in the boys 200 IM with a Jr. Long Course time of 1:47.13, and the junior won the 500 freestyle in a Jr. LC time of 4:25.46. D'Ariano was also the anchor on the Boys 400 Freestyle Relay that went 3:01.32 and qualified for All-American consideration. He is up for Courier/Intell Boys Playoff Performer of the Week (Vote).

Junior Taylor Grimley '24 won the girls 100 butterfly, with an Easterns meet-record time of 52.98. She also took home gold in the 100 backstroke with a Jr. LC time of 53.68. Grimley was a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay team that set the Franklin & Marshall pool record, meet record, and qualified for All-American consideration. Grimley and the 400 Freestyle Relay Team swam a pool record and All-American qualifying time of 3:22.14.

Patriots' sophomore Emily Hamill '25 finished first in the Girls 200 freestyle in an All-American qualifying time of 1:47.91 and second in the girls 100 freestyle, completing it in 50.41. She was also a member of the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams. 

Senior Eliza Meth '23 won the girls 100 breaststroke in 1:03.63.

Germantown Academy girls won the Easterns Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships for the second year in a row, while the boys team finished third.

Girls Basketball

Kendall Bennett '23 had 13 points and eight rebounds as the Patriots cruised into the PAISAA semifinals with a win over Academy Notre Dame. Bennett set the tone early, scoring five straight points to open the game.

Sam Wade '24 tallied 11 points and eight rebounds in the Patriots’ 60-37 victory in the PAISAA quarterfinals. 

Track & Field

Evan Badami '26 had an excellent showing at his first state championship meet. Badami won the boys 400-meter dash (51.97) and finished second in the 200-meter dash (24.15).

Gavin Fountain '24 won the boys shot put with a distance of 49-11.

Robert Bright '25 took first place in the boys pole vault, clearing a height of 11-06.
