Zach Burwell '89 was a running back at Germantown Academy in 1986, 1987, 1988. His accomplishments include 442 carries for 2,202 yards. 1988 single season statistics: 209 carries for 1,252 yards, at the time a new school record. In the 1988 Episcopal game (21-12), he rushed for 295 yards, scored 3 touchdowns and ran for a 2 point conversion. This was the first league win for GA in 5 years. As a result of that game, Zach received a Maxwell Award. He was also named as the Channel 3 "High School Player of the Week." Mention, RB),1986, 1987; All-Inter-Cc (1st Team), 1988; All City Hon. Mention (RB) 1987; All Area – Montgomery Newspapers 1988 1st team (RB); 1988 Philadelphia Daily News Inter-Ac Player of the Year; 1988 All State, 2nd team – offense (RB).
