Bill Straub was captain of the Germantown Academy soccer team that compiled a record of 31-4-5 over his career. He played varsity basketball in his junior and senior years at GA and varsity baseball in his senior year. Bill continued his excellent athletic record at the University of Pennsylvania, winning consecutive Ivy titles in soccer in 1971 and 1972 and was captain and first team All-American as a senior at Penn. In 1973, Bill was drafted in the first round in the North American Soccer League by the Montreal Olympics. He played for the Philadelphia Atoms from 1973 to 1976 and was named to the All-North American All Star team and the National/ World Cup team.
