Mark Steffens is considered one of the best baseball players in the history of Germantown Academy. He was named to the First Team All Inter-Ac for four consecutive seasons from 1985-88 and Inter- Ac Player of the Year in 1987 and 1988. He was named to the First All-City Team in 1987 and 1988 and City Player of the Year in 1988. Mark was a three-time participant in the Carpenter Cup. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Mark, and he played in the organization for three and a half years. He was once named Player of the Month for the entire organization. Mark holds the South Atlantic League record for consecutive games without an error by a first baseman: 135.
