1984-85 Boys' Varsity Swimming & Diving Team

The 1985 Germantown Academy boys swim team was selected by Swimming World Magazine as the National Champions out of all the high schools in the country. The National Champions are based on the dual meet season and is computer calculated. The team was undefeated in the dual meet season and won the Inter-Ac Championships and Easterns. Individually, Paul Fisch won numerous medals at the Maccabee Games in Israel. Robert Montgomery was an Open Water champion for the United States. Jeff Prior won a gold medal at the Pan Pacific Championships and the World University Games. He also was a medalist at the Pan American Games. David Wharton was a two-time World Record holder in the 400 IM and the 200 IM. He earned a Silver Medal in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea and was a finalist at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
