SPECIAL 1968 GIFT OPPORTUNITY
Some classes choose to support a special funding initiative that is “above and beyond” their support of the Annual Fund. Our class has decided to boost the already existing Wayne R. Smith ’68 Financial Aid Fund. Initiated by Wayne’s family in 1984, the fund has taken on enhanced significance since Wayne’s untimely passing in April of 2019. The fund provides tuition assistance for a qualified student who demonstrates leadership potential both in the classroom and as an athlete.
Our Goal, to commemorate our 55th reunion and to participate in the schools current Our Moment capital campaign, is to raise the fund’s total current value from $72,669 to $100,000, bringing the fund up to the school’s modern minimum for distributed endowed aid funds and re-naming the fund The Class of 1968 - Wayne R. Smith Financial Aid Fund. Contributions, in the form of cash, marketable securities or even deferred planned gifts (such as leaving GA in your will, as a benefactor of distribution from your IRA or many other available vehicles) can be pledged over the next few years. Donors who make pledged gifts to move the fund over the $100,000 mark will be notified on an annual basis about the performance of the fund and the progress of the assigned Class of ’68 recipient(s).
To participate, CLICK HERE and make sure to name “The Class of 1968 – Wayne R. Smith Financial Aid Fund” in the Gift Comment field.
