Hi my name is Anna Weber, and I am a new freshman here at Germantown Academy on the girls soccer team. While I have only spent two months at GA, Spirit Week was by far the best week here at GA that I have experienced. Having a different theme each day, sometimes divided by grade, my favorite had to have been Wacky Wednesday. Walking down the halls seeing my peers all dressed up and having a few laughs brought the spirit to another level. The suspense leading up to my first GA/PC Day was a little bit nerve racking, but at the same time, I was really excited and grateful that I got to experience this event with my closest friends. Furthermore, I was looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd for the first time in my life, and beating Penn Charter. I went in with a good mindset, good energy, and the intention to score a goal. While this objective was a consistent one of mine throughout the season, I knew the GA/PC Day game was the most important game of the season.

The girls soccer game on GA/PC Day was nothing like I expected. Our first game against PC was definitely a challenging game, and we lost with minutes left in the game, 3–2. Reflecting on the first game, I knew heading into GA/PC Day was going to be a tough battle as we knew their strengths and weaknesses and they knew ours. Overall I knew that the 2022 girls soccer team was capable of pulling out a win. The GA/PC Day game was like a dream come true for me. I achieved my goal; not just once scoring, but three times for my team, one within minutes left to play, which secured the victory for GA. When I heard the final whistle blow I was in complete shock. As I turned and looked over my shoulder I saw the herd of GA students storming the field yelling with excitement for the team's win. What I knew was possible, the team achieved, beating PC, 4–3. Additionally, the team ran over to one another hugging while some cried. It was one of the most exciting moments of my life. At the end of the game I received MVP honors for scoring three goals and playing an overall great game. While an accomplishment I had dreamed of since I was a little girl, I never expected to get this award as a freshman. Once word got around that I won MVP, everyone came up to me to congratulate me.

While our game was super exciting, the football game was nothing like I had experienced before as there was nothing like GA/PC Day at my old school. The school became a family as we came together to cheer on the football team. It was a really close game, and by the fourth quarter everyone became so engaged standing underneath the scoreboard hoping for GA to win. It came down to the last play of the game when Germantown Academy blocked Penn Charter’s field goal. Winning the game, 28–27, the student section stormed the field altogether. We ended up tying the day, 5–5, with Penn Charter, but it was an amazing day that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Although the day was filled with ups and downs for the GA sports teams, it brought together the GA community. While it was a day I will never forget, I am excited for the next three GA/PC Days and overall the years to come on the girls soccer team.
