Young Patriots Help AP Psych

In February the AP Psychology class took an on-campus field trip to the GA Childcare Center and kindergarten to learn more about developmental psychology. While the class was there, we were able to test some of the milestones that we learned about in class. Visiting two different age groups allowed us to compare and contrast the differences between these ages in terms of psychology.

At the Childcare Center, each AP Psych student was paired with a few kids. We would ask a few questions to determine whether they passed certain milestones, but the majority of the time was spent having fun and playing games.

Similarly, in the kindergarten we asked some questions and determined some differences between them and the kids in Childcare, but our main goal was to make sure the kids were having fun. We read them stories and played their favorite games while they told us about themselves.

Although the Childcare Center and Lower School are only short walks away, we rarely get to spend time with them so it was a great opportunity for seniors to act as role models and friends to the younger kids on campus. The kids are always excited to hang out with the “big kids”, so having the opportunity to further our learning into Psychology while making some kids a little happier is a great benefit of having everyone on the same campus.
