Art Across the Academy
Art Across the Academy, a cross-divisional, collaborative effort, is a program that shares the work of GA student artists and introduces the work of professional artists throughout the campus and into the daily lives of the community.
Co-founders Sara Krupnick-Ritz (Upper School Art Teacher) and Jessica Killo (Lower School Art Coordinator) launched the initiative in October 2013, and have overseen numerous inspiring and extraordinary projects.
"Art Across the Academy highlights the artwork of our students, campus-wide, creating spaces where the community, sometimes unexpectedly, finds themselves among art," says Ms. Killo.
"The program is intended to build opportunities for students to connect with professional artists and to participate in large-scale collaborative installations. The art is meant to be experienced in ways that are meaningful and memorable. In many cases, an exhibit will display connections between current curriculum and the natural environment of the installation."
Birth of a Program
Art Across the Academy crystalized into a formal program after the amazing experience of working with award-winning mosaic mural artist Iasaih Zagar during the 2012-13 school year.
