We are seeking candidates for a one year teaching fellow tenure to join our community beginning August 2023. This is a 10-month position with an excellent array of benefits and a competitive salary.

We are seeking candidates who…

  • Have 0-3 years of teaching experience and a strong desire to teach middle school students art using best pedagogical practices
  • Hold a degree in visual art or art education and are interested in pursuing a career in teaching
  • Demonstrate experience working with clay, various drawing materials, paper, wood, and printmaking
  • Are excited to work with and support Middle School-aged students (grades 6-8)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student-centered learning
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and growth mindset as a teacher and professional
  • Possess the cultural competency necessary for working with a diverse population in an equitable and inclusive community
  • Demonstrate the flexibility to use technology in support of student learning and other professional responsibilities
  • Communicate well, both in writing and verbally, with colleagues, students, and families
  • Model a culture of flexible, continuous learning to challenge and support students

Core Job Responsibilities

This role is a full-time teaching position with the following major responsibilities:

  • In the first semester:
    • Co-teach 2 sections of Middle School art classes with the MS visual art faculty
    • Assist art faculty with tasks as needed, including material preparation, artwork displays, and photography
    • Assist with class coverages across various disciplines in Middle School
    • Serve as a co-advisor for a group of approximately 12 Middle School students
  • In the second semester:
    • Serve as a long-term sub for one MS art faculty member
    • Assist art faculty with tasks as needed, including hanging shows, taking photos, and displaying work
    • Serve as a primary advisor for a group of approximately 12 Middle School students
  • All year:
    • Be a leader in the school’s co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside the classroom by coaching, leading extra-curricular activities, etc.
    • Other responsibilities including attending regular faculty meetings, professional learning communities, in-service days, and other supervision duties as assigned.
