Germantown Academy, a coeducational PreK-12 independent school with 1,100 students in Fort Washington, PA (suburban Philadelphia), is seeking dynamic Assistant Teacher for Virtual Instruction to work with small groups (3-10 students) of PreK-5th grade remote learning students in reading and math (daily).  When not working with remote learning students, this position would include working as a daily substitute for in person classrooms and supportive overall school operations.  These positions require working on campus. They start in August 2021 and offer competitive pay and benefits. The workday begins at 7:45AM and ends at 3:15PM and includes one day/week of working in the afterschool program until 5:15.

Position Purpose:

The Lower School Assistant Teacher for Virtual Instruction is a full-time instructional support position.  The Assistant Teacher supports the literacy (reading, writing, word study) and math curricula for students at home working remotely on a short-term basis, with guidance from lead classroom teachers. All curriculum materials and guidance from curriculum specialists will be provided.  The Assistant Teacher is responsible for guiding short-term remote learning students in accessing and working through assignments posted by lead teachers on Google Classroom. When not assigned to supporting remote learning, The Assistant Teacher works on campus as a daily substitute, in supporting students and teachers, and in supporting school operations as needed.

  • 4 year college degree required; degree in elementary or early childhood education preferred
