Virtual GA

MISSION

The mission of Virtual GA is to keep students engaged in learning even when they can’t be in school and to move our curriculum gently forward in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

SCHEDULE

Virtual GA will have a ‘School’s Open’ window for each division in which individual student conferencing with teachers, homeroom/advisory meetings, and some classes may occur.

During the other hours, students in grades 3-12 will have opportunities to engage in independent, enrichment, and supplemental learning.
In grades PreK-2, students and parents will be asked to work together on shorter assignments.

SCHOOL'S OPEN SCHEDULE

  • Lower School Open: 8 -10am
  • Middle School Open: 10am - 12:30pm
  • Upper School Open: 12:30pm – 3pm

Middle and Upper Schools
Will have a Two-Day Virtual Rotation, beginning each day with a Virtual Advisory (where attendance is taken) followed by four 30-minute classes (and 5-minute breaks in-between each class).

Lower School
Will feature daily homeroom ‘morning meetings’ (where attendance is taken), individual student/teacher ‘meetings’ every other day, and independent or parent-assisted school work at other times.

CURRICULUM

In Lower School, the curriculum will include work in Language Arts, Math, and Interdisciplinary Studies (social studies, enrichment, project-based learning, etc.). Faculty in specialist subject areas will be asked to create Enrichment Opportunities which the students/families can access online.

In the Middle and Upper Schools, the curriculum and daily schedule will include work ONLY in English, Math, History, Science, and Language. Faculty in other subject areas will be asked to create Enrichment Opportunities which the students can access online.
In addition, faculty in other subject areas can offer optional Elective Meetings outside of ‘School’s Open’ blocks for students to join them in conversation, discussion, optional project feedback, etc.

VIRTUAL GA PLATFORM

GA will be using Zoom as the platform for Virtual GA as it has the best available features to enact meaningful learning experiences online.

Each teacher will create an individual Zoom Account, which will create a unique Zoom link just for that teacher. Students will access each teacher’s class through that unique link at the designated time in the schedule.
