Why I Give: Amy Gowing '11

As a recent graduate of the Academy, I can’t give much in the way of a donation to the Annual Fund. So many people might wonder why I bother to give at all.

I give to the Annual Fund in an attempt to express my thanks for all that GA has given to me. The caring, compassionate faculty and devoted staff members work hard to give the students the best possible experience. The wide variety of extracurricular activities gives every student a chance to broaden their horizons and take on leadership opportunities, no matter what his or her interest might be.  All of these opportunities helped make me well prepared for college, and I expect life beyond.

I also give to the Annual Fund because as I walked across the stage last June and went from being a student to an alumna of the school, I realized that although I was leaving campus, GA will always be a part of me.  I hope that my donation will help the school provide future generations with the same type of amazing experiences that I had, the memories of which will be instilled in me forever.

No matter where life finds me, no matter where I live, Germantown Academy will always have a special place in my heart because it helped to create who I am today. For that I am grateful, and that is why I give.
