Lynne and Bill Garbose have been members of the Germantown Academy community since 1996 when they brought their son, Jonathan, to join the Kindergarten Class of 2009. A few years later, with their younger son, Michael, as a happy member of the Class of 2012, the Garboses dove headfirst into the spirit of volunteering, he with the Board of Trustees, and she with book fairs, Thanksgiving Food Drives and, eventually, leading the charge for a new event - the Home & Garden Tour. READ MORE

In 2004, when the Germantown Academy Board of Trustees made the decision to formally foster a new “culture of giving” in the 240+ year-old school, it was Judi 1760 and Bruce Goodman who answered the call to create an attractive and functional space for the newly-termed Office of Institutional Advancement.  Their gift in 2005 opened the doors to Goodman House, which provides headquarters for a team of professionals committed to advancing the school’s mission by maintaining strong ties to alumni; assisting parents in their connections to and support of the school; and raising the awareness of the school’s overall need for philanthropic support.  READ MORE

Gina and Craig Garretson, like many independent school parents, value education. They want a school that will encourage their children to express themselves and work to their highest potential.  They realize the investment they make in their children today will serve their children for life. Yet, the Garretsons are not current parents, in fact they haven’t been current parents since 2007 when their youngest, Sunny, received her diploma, several years after her two brothers, Todd ’95 and Ross ’95, graduated.  For these parents of alumni, it is what GA gave to their children that make them want to give back for current and future students.  READ MORE

When current parents Caren and Fred Levin were invited to participate in Germantown Academy’s Campus Master Plan, they were more than excited. A plan that takes advantage of our school’s most unique assets – the environment and faculty-student relationships – was definitely something their family wanted to take part in.

“We love the concept of opening the buildings to face the Wissahickon,” said Fred. “The plan is so creative – the way we are keeping the stone look on the outside while providing modern amenities on the inside, and doing our part to be sustainable for the future – it is a true testament to how our school continues to evolve.”   READ MORE
