GA Cum Laude Early Inductees Honored

Earlier this month, Assistant Head of School/Head of Upper School Rich Schellhas proudly presented early Cum Laude inductees into the Class of 2013: Jerry Chee ’13, Cameron Clarke ’13, Daniel Chen ’13, Brett Curtis ’13, Jonah Kallenbach ’13, Allison Ke ’13, Daniel Li ’13, Erin Patrick ’13, Eli Schleicher ’13, Jordan Sciascia ’13, Alexandra Takei ’13 and Shelley Zhao ’13.
“The Cum Laude committee is delighted to recognize this group of elite scholars for their academic prowess, integrity, and commitment to honor,” Mr. Schellhas said. “In a highly talented class, it was excruciating not to be able to induct more students based on their achievements through junior year, but alas we were limited by the restrictions of a highly selective organization. Considered the ‘high school equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa,’ Cum Laude is truly the ‘academic hall of fame’ for independent schools, and the students selected for this designation have demonstrated remarkable talent in a wide-array of the most challenging courses offered by the Academy. We honor their commitment to learning for learning’s sake and their adherence to the principles of our Honor Code. Their formal induction will occur in the spring, when we will be fortunate to include another small group of students based on their performance through senior year.”
GA is permitted to induct up to 10 percent of its graduating class into this lauded society. A second group will be selected in May and the 25 total inductees from the Class of 2013 will be honored during a special ceremony for the Germantown Academy Chapter of the Cum Laude Society in June.
