Junior Class takes annual 'arts' trip
Posted September 12, 2012
The Class of 2014, 123 mighty members strong, started the year off with a bang on Monday during their Junior ‘Arts’ Trip, Dancing Around the Diamond. The juniors spent a spectacular evening at Citizens Bank Park watching the Phillies conquer Miami in an exciting game under the stars. Our students were impressive in their efforts to galvanize the entire park into doing the wave and in their desire to spread world culture to Philadelphia as they joined in song to present a stirring, spontaneous performance of their favorite German folk song from GA’s annual Oktoberfest. They all enjoyed the artistic view provided by the ‘dual screen’ imaging created by the huge yellow foul pole that separated pitcher from catcher in a neck-craning yet expressionistic way. Highlights of the evening included one student’s birthday flashing on the big screen, a rousing group performance of YMCA, and, just as they had given up all hope, an extended all-GA student spotlight on the Jumbotron in the 9th inning. We have to believe that the Patriot Spirit that abounded was indeed at least partly responsible for the decisive victory in what has otherwise been a somewhat disappointing season!
