Building on Tradition: Gardy Kahoe ’68 honored by friends and teammates

Posted May 18, 2012

As a part of The Building on Tradition campaign, friends and past teammates of Gardy Kahoe ’68 honored their late friend by dedicating one of GA’s new varsity baseball dugouts in his memory during a special ceremony prior to Thursday’s GA-Malvern Prep Inter-Ac League contest.

Gardy, whose recent loss was deeply felt by the Germantown Academy community, was a dedicated Patriot and eager supporter of all of Germantown Academy athletics. While at GA, he was an All Inter-Ac performer in football, basketball and baseball, and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. He went on to the University of Delaware where he was named a First Team All-American in football in 1977 and later inducted into the Blue Hen’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

On hand for the dedication was Kahoe’s close friend and fellow GA Athletic Hall of Fame member David Lawson ’70, Head of School Jim Connor 1760, Varsity Baseball Coach Tyler Stampone ’05, and captains Dan Hoy ’12, Mike Fitzgerald ’12, Ryan Dolan ’12 and Cameron Retif ’12.

Germantown Academy wishes to thank David, and all of Gardy’s friends and teammates, who have made this special moment possible.
