Alumni Art Show

The art works hung during the Alumni Show were made by Germantown Academy alums who began their arts training at the Academy in the years following the construction of the Arts Center. In 1980, and indeed today, scant few independent schools across the country had made such a formidable commitment to visual arts education and to the serious role creativity and art plays in the development of the intellectual life of a student. Early on, the vision for the program was to train the serious artist as well as the arts advocate. Over time, this commitment launched the careers of prominent artists, film makers, architects, and designers - some of whom were represented in this exhibit. Today our programming has grown to include student opportunities in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, digital imaging and design, and digital film making and recording.

As our culture depends more and more on visual information, our students find that visual arts education provides them with enormous opportunity. Whether they choose to tender their talents toward fine and applied arts or combine their creative problem solving skills with work in other fields, GA graduates are making tremendous contributions to our visual culture and many have taken their rightful place as the heir apparent to our rich and various cultural history.

Our sincere thanks to the following alumni who participated in this wonderful show! - Gaby Russomagno and Jess Grisafi
