LS Assistant Teacher

Position Purpose

The Assistant Teacher (AT) is a full time, instructional position. The AT supports the classroom Lead Teacher in planning and executing the curriculum with students. The AT should be prepared to plan and execute small group instruction with students, as well as lead whole group lessons. The AT is responsible for supporting all aspects of the program, and should be collaborative and flexible. In addition, the AT must contribute to after-school programming through coaching or leading after-school enrichment activities.

Assistant to the Head of Middle School

Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Assistant to the Head of Middle School, beginning July, 2017. This is a 12-month position which offers an excellent array of benefits and a highly competitive salary.   The Academy, founded in 1759, is a non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory school of more than 1,100 students in Grades PK-12, located in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia on a campus of 126 acres. Qualified applicants will meet the following criteria:

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Supporting the Head of Middle School by providing administrative help to the Division Head.
  2. Serving as the face of the Middle School Division and as the primary contact person for parent and student inquiries.
  3. Organizing and maintaining all administrative functions of the Middle School Office. This includes, but is not limited to the following: ensuring class coverage for absent teachers, both planned and unplanned; recording daily attendance for the Middle School; generating reports using Blackbaud’s Education Edge; assisting with the Weekly Memo for faculty and updating the MS Lobby on the web; reserving facilities for meetings and special events; scheduling faculty meetings and parent meetings; responding to parent phone calls; tracking budgets overseen by the Division Head; putting together mailings; ordering supplies for the Division. Making standardized testing arrangements.
  4. Providing administrative support to the MS Head Advisors, Director of Student Life, Academic Dean & Learning Specialist, and Department Heads.
  5. Assisting with faculty hiring process by creating interview schedules.
  1. Arranging buses and making reservations for school trips.
  2. Overseeing the preparation of special events including but not limited to the opening of school, Back to School Night, and Final Assembly.


  1. High School diploma and a minimum of 5 years of work experience in an administrative support capacity.
  2. Strong organizational skills.
  3. Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
  4. Expertise in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and Blackbaud strongly preferred. Strong interest in learning new technology applications.

Assistant Rowing Coach

Germantown Academy, a coeducational PreK-12 independent school in Fort Washington, PA, is seeking a full or part-time Assistant Rowing Coach for its high school rowing team to start in the spring of 2017.

GA Crew has about 40 boys and girls total rowing in a mix of sweep and sculling boats, with an emphasis on sculling as rowers mature. GA rows out of Hines Rowing Center on the Schuylkill River in Conshohocken, PA. The team practices from 3:30 to 6pm daily and has early practice on Saturday. Racing is primarily local through the PSRA series of Flicks and City Championships, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, and SRAA Scholastic Nations. Regattas are primarily on Sundays from late March through late May.

A successful candidate will have to complete standard employment paperwork and a background check for clearance to work with school-age athletes.
